It provides a standardized terminology for the description and categorization of places, administrative units and other geographies in the GOV. There are two categories: The type group and the actual types that are assigned to the groups. Each type has a unique ID. The list is primarily used to standardize the location types used. It enables precise and uniform recording of location data, which ensures the quality and comparability of entries in the GOV. In addition, it supports processes such as identification, matching and qualitative analysis of historical settlement structures. Thanks to its structured and standardized form, the type list facilitates the systematic recording, analysis and exchange of data on historical sites.
