| (P724)?Digest: | The Thesaurus for the Social Sciences (TheSoz) is a systematically organised compilation of technical terms from the social sciences. It is the central keyword vocabulary in the German-language social sciences for research literature and project data. It was developed for the content-related indexing of social science literature and research projects and for their research in the databases SOFIS (Social Science Research Information System) and SOLIS (Social Science Literature Information System). In TheSoz, the standardised keywords are assigned to a generic term, as well as related terms and synonyms. Most of the German-language keywords are translated into English (8212), French (8218) and Russian (6673), although this is not quite as comprehensive for the synonyms. The data is available for a variety of download options. The data can be linked as Linked Open Data, but are not immediately available for complete download. Furthermore, the Thesaurus is used for content-related searches in the social science specialist portal Sowiport and in the literature and project databases of GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. TheSoz thus forms a central bridge vocabulary to a large number of other relevant national and international subject and universal thesauri (including Thesaurus for Sociological Indexing Terms, STW, Integrated Authority File). The main work was carried out in the DFG project KoMoHe (2004-2007). |
