| (P724)?Digest: | The Bamberg Vocabulary for Historical Architecture is the only standardised data set for historical building research, building history, building conservation and building restoration which, in contrast to the established Getty Art & Architecture Thesaurus, now also comprehensively maps specialist terms in German and, in addition to art-historically oriented, formal and typological terms, provides a wealth of knowledge regarding building construction, the history of building technology, building equipment, condition assessment and restoration. The Bamberg vocabulary follows the specifications of the WWW Consortium for Simple Knowledge Organisation Systems (SKOS). As a result, references to super- and sub-terms as well as related term concepts form a term ontology in the form of a semantic graph whose assignment principle is always defined by the phenomenological meaning and not by linguistic similarities. In addition to German preferred and alternative terms, many equivalents in English, French, Italian, Spanish and Czech are also assigned to the concepts. |
