| (P724)?Digest: | The database with information on around 3800 forced labour camps is a cooperation project between the Foundation EVZ and the Federal Archives. The online directory is a result of the examination of detention sites as part of the payments to former forced labourers by the Foundation EVZ, which were completed in 2007. In their applications for compensation payments, many applicants had indicated places of detention that were largely unknown until then, especially camps, prisons and places of detention located in the territories occupied by the German Reich. Between 2000 and 2003, researchers compiled information on such places of detention for forced labourers, where living and working conditions were similar to those in concentration camps. The resulting directory provides information on the geographical location of the places of detention for forced labourers as well as references and sources. |
