(P724)?Digest:ORCID, which stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID, is a global, non-profit organisation that enables the web-based identification of individuals, organisations, works and objects using persistent identifiers. Unlike other standard directories, ORCID allows individuals to obtain a standardised ID by setting up their own account and entering identifying information. The latter can also be subject to restrictions, which makes subsequent use by third parties more difficult. Users have the option of creating a publication directory. Works and publications that are published with an OrcID and DOI (Digital Object Identifier) can be automatically added.
