At the same time, the place database not only provides access to the current topography and administrative division of Bavaria, but also depicts historical relationships for the reference years 1978, 1950, 1925/28 and 1875. There is a search entry for the entire administrative division of the Free State or Kingdom for the above-mentioned reference years. The Palatinate, which belonged to Bavaria until 1945, is also included. It is also possible to search for the objects using an interactive map. Each individual data record is networked with other offers, so that the location database offers numerous possibilities for location-based research.The administrative affiliation before and after the territorial reforms of the 1970s and the state simplification of the Weimar period is documented for each place in Bavaria today; historical population data and any changing topographical designations are also included. Historical forms of names from relevant reference works have been added for selected larger places. In the case of the municipalities, the denominations of the year 1875 have been included.
